Robinspring Capital, a small-business funding broker in Laramie, Wyoming, places business line-of-credit requests with lending partners. This page explains how draws and payments work, revolving versus non-revolving lines, secured versus unsecured lines, how a line compares with a term loan, and what partners read. Partners decide, set the limit and set the rate and terms.
| What it is | A limit you draw against and repay |
|---|---|
| Fits | Costs that repeat at different sizes |
| Interest | Accrues only on drawn dollars |
| Partners read | Deposits, credit file, lines already open |

How draws work
An approved line gives you a ceiling to borrow under. You draw part of it, by transfer or by a draw request, when a bill arrives. The drawn amount becomes the balance; the rest of the limit stays available. As you repay, that room opens up again. Nothing is owed on the undrawn portion except, with some partners, a maintenance or non-use charge, which belongs in the written terms.
That is why a line fits a recurring pattern: supply orders every few weeks, a crew paid before a job is billed, a clinic covering costs while claims are paid. One defined project with a single price tag usually belongs on a term loan instead.
How payments on a business credit line are figured
Each statement usually carries interest on the drawn balance for the period, plus, on many lines, a set share of principal. Draw more and the payment rises; pay down and it falls. Some lines require interest-only payments during a draw period, followed by a repayment period with no new draws.
How does business line of credit interest work in dollars? Interest accrues daily on whatever is outstanding. A line that sits at zero most of the month costs far less than one carried near its limit. Ask the partner how interest is computed and on which dates payments fall, then check both against your deposit calendar.
Revolving or non-revolving
| Revolving line | Non-revolving line | |
|---|---|---|
| After you repay | That room becomes available again | Repaid room does not return |
| Typical use | Repeat bills of different sizes | A set of draws for one project |
| Feels like | A reusable reserve | A term loan taken in pieces |
What is a non-revolving line of credit good for? A project paid in stages, such as a fit-out where contractors bill as work progresses. You draw as invoices arrive and pay interest only on what is out, but repaid money does not come back to the limit.
Secured or unsecured
Business assets, often receivables or inventory, stand behind a secured line, and the partner may file a lien. An unsecured line relies on cash flow and credit, and often carries a personal-guarantee clause. Secured lines can be easier to obtain; unsecured lines leave assets unpledged. Every partner sets its own rules.
The file a partner reads before opening a Laramie, WY credit line
Partners usually want several months of bank statements, time in operation, the owner's credit, existing limits and debts, and an active Wyoming entity record. Our post on qualifying for a line of credit in Laramie, WY goes through each in detail, and the four-step process shows where that review happens.
Small employers are the norm here: 53.7% of the 709 employer establishments in ZIP 82070 had fewer than five employees in 2023 (Census ZIP Code Business Patterns 2023). For a small shop, a line held in reserve can cover the month a large customer pays late, without a new application each time.
When a credit line is the wrong tool
A line invites drift. Because the money is always there, it can slowly turn into permanent funding for a business that is not covering its costs, with the balance creeping toward the limit and never coming down. Partners notice a line that has sat near its limit for months, and some reduce or close lines on review.
- If the balance never returns close to zero, the need is probably long-term and a term loan fits better.
- If one large purchase eats most of the limit, it may belong on equipment or inventory financing.
- If you are drawing to make the payments on other debt, stop and call before drawing again.
A line, working capital or a term loan
If the need is one gap with a clear end, working capital may be simpler. If it repeats, a line usually costs less because idle money carries no interest. If it is a long project, a term loan's fixed schedule keeps the balance from drifting. The full six-product comparison puts them side by side, and the sector pages show where each tends to fit.
